Does anyone have any ballpark values for a 99-C in .284 Win? Condition is described as "as New", but I have not yet seen it so cannot verify.

Thanks in advance for any assistance. LawMan

SCF2003 lists NIB- $1100, Excellent- $700 (* SCF definition of excellent = AT LEAST 98% condition and 100% configuration)

That leaves a 2% or $400 window of play for whatever the seller thinks "as new" is.

RAM,

Did you notice that Gunbroker # 7430243, the Model 99C with the rusty finger prints on it, had a final bid of over $750? I though about calling "Steve" to suggest that he pray for someone to outbid him, but I didn't and someone did, so he lucked out.

Sincerely,

Bear,
There's no accounting for what happens on an internet auction. But people here are finally smartening up, I was surprised by many of the comments on the Canadien "C" and "E" post!

RAM,
Please pardon my ignorance, but...........just what is the "SCF2003" to which you refer in your response to LAWMAN? I'm still scratching my head as to what it could be. Thanks.

I'll take a guess at that one and say the S is for Savage, the C is for catalog, and the F is for firearms, 2003. Am I right?

Standard Catalog of Firearms 2003. (Doug Murray is credited with the savage 99 section)

The 99-C is the least desirable of the 99's IMO, prefering the 99EG and the F models made in the 60's...

I see these 284C models for $500 at Gunshows, and up to $1200 in the Gunlist for a new one in the box with hangtags...Condition is everything.

It's not without its errors and typo's. I posted a while back asking you to go to work for Krause as a proof reader. You musta missed it. I got mine at a show from one of the book dealers. $25, plus the show was $5 so I guess you figure around $30 not matter how you buy it. I like helping the small guy when I can.

It's a legit contender for the Fjestad's Blue Book, SCF has info and pictures (from the major auction houses) Fjestad leaves out, and Fjesad had dates and data that SCF leaves out. New Blue Book comes out next month, it will be interesting to see if there are improvements because of SCF. Even though SCF has been around 13 years, I feel the only real competition the Blue Book has ever had was Stoeger's GTG, and that wasn't much competition, although thumbing through their latest, I see they have improved to 3 grades of prices!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> They do provide pictures also though, and damn if those pictures don't help from time to time.

RAM,

Thanks for the review. If you want me to proof ( I can't spell) it must need some work!
