These blades have been out for some years now tho it’s the first I’ve seen of em. https://www.gerbergear.com/Knives/Fixed/Freeman-Guide-Knife_31-000588Wasn’t shopping for a knife but for $20 I couldn’t pass it up. NICE practical design in a compact package.

Perfect size for an all around hunting knife.
All of the “cheap” Gerbers I’ve owned have been damn good knives. And they hold and take an edge well too.
It would be a great “spare” to throw in your backpack too.

Reviews on it's steel are not very complimentary. I would opt for a Mora for a cheap knife with great steel.

I have a couple of Gerbers. I would not hesitate to buy this one if needed. Looks good IMO.

Gerbers aren't what they used to be. I have two old made in Oregon knives that are good blades. The company now is owned by Fiskars, and donate to antigun organizations because of it's local ties in Portland. Most of their blades are now China made junk.

One of the handiest "cheap" knives I've had lately is this one. Half of what I like most is the sheath. Can be worn either around the neck or on a belt with a clip. Takes an edge, easy to clean, steady in the hand. I wear it all summer long in the kayak, and by fall am so used to it that it's constantly around my neck. So comfy that at times I've been looking for a knife before I realize I have one on me. https://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Edge...duck+knife&qid=1571312754&sr=8-1

I like the drop point design of the blade on that knife. Thanks for the heads up.

life is too short to buy and use junk knives Life is too short to buy knives you have to sharpen these days too. Hard to recall last time I've used a sharpenable blade other than a bit for skinning as I use an ulu for that a fair bit.

SMKW had these on sale for $40 a few years ago, but with s30v steel, made in USA, and with stag handles. Bought a few for gifts and kept one for myself, and it's become one of my favorite knives.
