My 20 year old Cabelas packable rainwear is about done and I'm looking for packable rain jacket and pants for when you hit a rainy day hiking, fishing, light outdoor work, etc...
This doesn't need to be Bering Sea grade rain gear, just something light to throw on when the rain hits. On the same note, I don't mind spending the money on decent packable stuff. The jacket must have a hood with hopefully some sort of a bill and pants need to have leg zipper so you don't have to take off your boots. Would prefer non-camo stuff.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I've carried Red Ledge in my pack for years although in this climate, I can go a year or 2 between uses. It's reasonably priced on Amazon and fits your requirements - hood with bill, zipper pant legs, many non-camo colors. I got mine at Sportsmans Warehouse but I'm not sure if they still carry it. Amazon and Walmart do.

Marmot precip has kept us fairly dry for years in AK. Its not bush worthy, but more so than frog toggs that tear.
YMMV. HH has a version too, maybe impertech?
My next go around since I'll likely be in the bush 2 months a year or more, is real rain gear like fishing type rain gear. Its the only thing that keeps out bad rain and stands up to the bush. Heavy. Not what I'd call packable but mine is often rolled up and cinched to the top of my pack for quick access.

I've got a King's Camo XKG Windstorm set that's real light weight. It's good for emergencies, but you wouldn't want to spend days in it.

Thanks Joe! The Marmot precip looks like the stuff that would work for me.

After unrolling it from your pack or vehicle, etc., 3 minutes on *LOW* dryer setting will take out all wrinkles if you want to wear it in town.
Takes DWR well if you want to enhance the waterproofing in the future.

Kuhl Jetstream. I have no experience with the pants, but I have the jacket and love it. Retired or gave away all my other raincoats because of it.

take a peek at the Patagonia military lineup (eBay)- itβs issue stuff that is a little hardier than their civilian lineup; also neutral color (sage green)
itβs still lightweight (just a little heavier than their civilian stuff)
you used to be able to pick this stuff up cheap, then people realized what they had and prices went up, BUT I still occasionally will see some pretty good deals on it

That is a great suggestion. Very good stuff that you useta could get cheap enough to not worry about thrashing. Have not seen any for sale in a long time. Anyone played with this stuff: Military GoreTex Pants? Heavier, for sure but looked durable in the brief look I gave it.

They're also extremely loud, even louder when could.

Great for working out in the rain and on the quad when its wet and muddy.

I have a Cabela's jacket / pants combination that I carry in my day pack when hunting, but for true backpacking, the lightweight Patagonia jacket and pants I bought from REI are better. They're not as bulky as the Cabela's and are lighter.

I bought a pair on his recommendation and they are a phenomenal value. They're reasonably light weight and aren't noisy. They're not silent, but not bad at all. https://www.sportsmansguide.com/pro...ld-pants-with-gore-tex-like-new?a=884871
