Gary, I'm with you on the stream fishing vs the lake. If you throw in an extra split cane for me, I'll ease your load for the ride home, and stick it in my duffle when I'm done with it.
My mind still takes me back to that Pa. weekend. I had a blast! Looking forward to both events as well.

My heart's in the mountains, my heart is not here. My heart's in the mountains, chasing the deer.

It will be the Fourth Annual Pennsylvania Rendezvous. Next year promises to be a bang-up year for we Savage guys! Can't wait for both events!
Aside from lake fishing, which is ok but not my cuppa tea, any decent trout streams nearby? (Shades of Robert Traver and "Trout Madness"!) I'll throw a split cane fly rod in my duffle if so. I used to go up in the River off Little Bay De Noc-I believe it's actually called Rapid River. I'd go up stream as far as I could get the boat and then get out and wade. Caught brook trout, smallmouth and hammerhandle northerns pretty much at will up there. We actually used to get brook trout right off the dock at the resort every once in a while. The brown trout run in late summer-early fall. My dad was doing construction work up there. The resort would be emptied out as summer was done. He'd go out and troll for browns with Johnson Sprite hammered copper spoons. He literally quit fishing for them after a couple hours because his arms were worn out from reeling them in. He'd bring one in for him self, one for the resort owners and throw the rest back.
