I’ve been around. Kinda.
Right now I’m sitting in the trailer at deer camp on the Grand River.
There’s lots of does and fawns around, with a few small bucks. Nothing I want to shoot. The rut hasn’t started yet, and I’m still waiting for the big guy that was roughing up that nosy little buck that got his azz killed here last year.
Next week there should be some sightings of new bucks as the rut kicks in.
With some good fortune, I might have a good story and some big buck pics.

Thanks Denny. Im going to give it a go Sunday afternoon. The rain should be blown out and the sky clearing. It’s going to be a great afternoon for a bow hunt.

I lost a deer years ago after sticking an arrow through it's ribs and having the rain wash the blood trail away. Those were two of the darkest self blaming second guessing days I've had, searching for her. I gave up, and tore up my doe tag. On the evening of the third day crows announced where she was. After traveling South after being hit, she swung around and was Northwest about 120 yards in a bramble patch. The coyotes had eaten much of her already.

I thought the mule deer this year was going to be the same! I hit it and he kept walking, I shoot him again and he went over the ridge. The neighbor’s property is right there within 50 yards. I climbed up to the ridge, and there he layed belly up on a pile of rocks! Never had a deer do that before!
