A few weeks ago, a young man(age 20) I work with, was coming back from a weekend of elk scouting with his twin brother and they were in a terrible vehicle accident. The brother was killed....
The young man I work with is an absolute solid person and you'd think he is 10 years older than he is by his maturity. He works hard, is smart, respectable, responsible, and improves the performance of those he works with. He and his deceased twin brother are/were very avid outdoorsmen.
After the dust started to settle a bit, I tried to think of something meaningful to get the guy. I checked out the Buck Knife website and noticed the custom knife page and after getting some ideas from his family on the type of handle and engraved words, decided that would be something that would work. A 110 folder has a S30V blade, with elk antler handle.
My only worry was the potential 4-6 week wait for the knife to be done. I really didn't want to be possibly reopening a wound that long after the death of a twin brother.
I called Buck and asked about the wait time and in the process explained why I was hoping for a sooner turnaround. The nice guy in customer service at Buck, told me he was going to get with the custom shop and do all he could to make this happen sooner. I went ahead and ordered the knife hoping that it wouldn't be 4-6 weeks, but realized it might. I ordered on a Friday and one week later, I got the email that the knife had been shipped.
Anyway, my hat is off to Buck Knives for moving as fast as possible on this. Darn nice people who want to help their customers. I wish the knife could have been given for a happy occasion, but maybe in some way it can help.

Echo that, Buck is a good company that seems to have heart.

There are cheaper knives and I suppose there are better knives, but I like to spend money with a company like Buck. They're all I buy.

Very sorry to hear about your young friend's brother, Lonny. I'm sure that is a very tough situation for him and his family right now.
I can say that I believe he will be very happy with that knife. I bought that exact knife from the Buck custom shop a few months ago and the knife was well worth the approximate 4 to 6 weeks wait. It's a beauty.
Best Wishes to all.

Good to hear of Buck's service. I haven't ordered a Buck knife in a while, but that write up drove me straight to their website where I ordered a 722 SpitFire for my youngest son.

Like the others stated,I'm sorry to read about your friend's brother.
They are a fantastic company run by God fearing men.I believe C.J Buck is the fourth generation to run his family's business and he does it like his father, that is,with high regard for their customers.
My dad and uncles collect Buck knives and I've received many as gifts over the years. It's been a tradition in my family to gift Buck knives.

I'm quite surprised ANY company did this in a timely manner. But God Bless them for doing so. Be Well, RZ

Sara Buck did something similar for me when I ordered a Custom Shop 110 for my dads birthday. They are first class people.
