Not sure why but I really like these rifles. I got a 93R17 GV in 17HMR last year and really like the rifle a lot. Figured a synthetic stock iron site 22wmr would go well with it for plinking and target shooting when a get tired of the larger centerfire stuff. As a bonus they take the same mags. Anyone have one of these?

I had a 93R17 when they first hit the market. It shoots great, but I couldn't get past the cheap magazine quality. I gave it to my shooting bud, who needed an HMR. He's still got it, and it still shoots well, but those magazines SUCK bad. Compared to the Savage magazines, Marlin's magazines are quite good. My Marlin shoots a little better than the Savage, and I wasn't put off so much by it's also cheaply made magazines.

All things considered, though, I'd rather have CZ or Ruger rifles (and their superlative magazines).

Cool. I haven't had any mag issues with my 17hrm, although I have read a lot about people having issues with the early ones.
