Bolderdash! Everybody know the 30-30 isn't a "real" cartridge anymore and it will just bounce off of modern deer at any range, and you can't even hit them with a 30-30 because they aren't accurate!

You coming through Texas this winter? [/quote] Might be in the early spring. We will be staying home through January this year but may do a southwestern trip in Feb/March. We got a new pup that needs some raising before we travel much with her.

I'd like to see a pic of the rifle doing this. Confused, the rifle laying on a bench,or with somebody holding it in a sling, I have no high speed camera to take a photo as it is fired. Tell me your desires and I will forward them to Nez. Matter of fact, I will PM his email addy and you can tell him what you want, how about that!

Butch, I'd like to see a picture of the .30-30 he's using. That's all.

Butch, Thanks for posting this information. Finally, something new and interesting on the CF. Laughing, and it is about an “ancient” cartridge, really great. Thanks, Rick

Rick, you know? Nez called to say he would buy my Eliseo tube gun and I failed to ask him about the progress on his 30-30. We couldn't talk much since he was having an asthma attack.

Even in a very gently loaded Sauer outside-hammer drilling, made around 1900, I easily got .300 Savage muzzle velocities from the 28" rifle barrel.
There are continual myths about how certain cases are "weak," including .45 "Long" Colts, and the .30-30--which are repeated by people who know nothing about either the cases or pressure.

Bravo, Mr Turner! More from him circa 2016 can be found here, including pictures of his custom bolt action.
