Good evening,
I'm seeking some advice on what loads to run through my Winchester Model 12 field grade 12 gauge 2 3/4 chambered gun for ducks. The gun is choked modified, I would like to know if steel shot can be used or should be avoided entirely. I don't want to risk damaging the old girl in any way. Also, does anyone hunt with a model 12 for ducks still on this forum?
Thanks!

I’d not shoot steel through a grand old gun like a Model 12. Bismuth is your friend, in this case.

Check out Boss shotshells too. I’m going to use #5s in my old Ithaca 37 this year. I would like to find another 37 with a full choke or a good Model 12 to expand my options. I have a new A5 and a SBE, but they just don’t have the soul of an old pump gun
