Saw the new Midway movie. Lots of action. How realistic? You be the judge. I don't think the battle scenes are as realistic as Saving Private Ryan. That said, it's hard to show air and sea battles in context in one view.
Historically, it tries to be accurate. Too much history to fit in such a short amount of time. Covers many major events and people from before Pearl Harbor to the actual battle.
I liked the movie for what they tried to do, but I think the scope was too big.

VERDICT
This film was physically upsetting and is capable of ruining anyone’s weekend.
Stay away from it and abstain from the mental strife.
Save your money for Sam Mendes’ World War I film, “1917,” which is set for a limited Christmas Day release before hitting theaters nationwide on Jan. 10, 2020.
......... Lots of ads (adds, for the 'fire), and other misc. in the article. Too much to edit to make it into a post.
Going to see it tomorrow. Military.com is full of liberal pajama boy writers.

Read the linked review. Well, I dunno if OrangeOkie's assessment of MT pajama-boy writers applies to the guy who wrote this review, but he is a damn good writer and the review is funny as hell. I'll be giving "Midway" a pass.
