I like stainless too. If it’s made in SS, that’s what I buy.

Nice pile of pistolas!

I’m the opposite when it comes to S&W revolvers. I like blued steel and wood. Hard to beat the utility of SS though!

My sentiments, too. I have a few stainless, but most are blued steel and wood. But, like you say, there's no doubting the utility of stainless.

Absolutely. The only one I own with a key hole is my 329PD, and it's been neutralized by a gunsmith, so it doesn't work.

I also like em and also have a Skandium 357 for my backwoods carry.

I've been wanting a 317 22LR 1-7/8" barrel but they no longer offer em.

May have to settle for a 317 Kit Gun 3" w/sights.

I think all my Smiths except a 27-5, a 317 (aluminum) and a 357 PD (scandium) are stainless.

I like them all

Guess I first became aware of stainless S&Ws in the early-mid 70s when the local sheriff's guys started carrying model 66s. I've been enamored of the look ever since.

Waiting to take possession of a 4" 629 I got from the classifieds here. It arrived by FedEx last Monday, but work schedule got me to the FFL on Thursday. NICS punched a hole in Thursday and I'll have to wait til Monday again to pick it up.

I get the right grips on it, and a pretty holster, I'll try to post a pic worthy of EdM...

Reminds me of a Gun Digest story years ago titled "Make Mine Stainless".

Stainless is Painless. You put the right wood on them they can be as pretty as blue, to my eye. Nice clutch of guns.

Going to guess that those are after-market Culinas made like that. They sure make some nice grips.

Gunzo: I am kinda with you on the stainless steel preference/trend.
IF.... (and thats a big if anymore!) I plan on "using" (shooting carrying!) a Smith & Wesson pistol I would rather invest in the stainless versions.
If I am buying for investment purposes only I would lean slightly towards the blued model.
I also intently consider/seek out original "nickel plated" Smith & Wesson pistols for "collecting" purposes. They appreciate a tad better than the blued or the stainless models in my experience.
Yes it appears to be a "trend" for you, garnering the stainless Smith's!
Good for you and enjoy.
But I am open to all finishes and enjoy them all.
Looking right now at a minty nickel plated Smith & Wesson Model 29-3 6" in the original presentation box, at a price I consider to be very fair.
Third day thinking on this one so it has passed THAT "test" for me.
Will probably jump on that non-stainless offering soon?
Long live Smith & Wesson.

Royal blue & French or Turkish walnut trips my trigger as much as most. But that just doesn't fit me, been there. While I don't go after the latest & greatest on the market in most any venue, I do tend to lean towards proven advances in modern technology.

But figuring though, that nobody wants, or needs to see a group pick of Austrian plastic fantastic. whistle
