After putting 2 of my granddaughters on bucks, I really didn't have any plans to shoot one myself unless it was a good one. Here on the home farm, we're surrounded by farms that have a Mennonite sitting in every other tree. I've been hunting with the in-laws some, as they have a better opportunity for a good deer than I do at home. But, got a pic on trail cam of one this week, and went back this morning to the shooting house I built for the grandkids (and me) and this old boy came across the bean field at 6:15. The 140 grain Nosler BT worked perfectly at 200 yards.

Nice buck!

You are ahead of me this year...

I could have but just haven't shot one yet.

Getting to the point of needing some backstrap. smile

Great buck ! Congrats!

I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

Good deal, James.

Yep, as Barry said, it's getting near time one can hang for several days to "tenderize".

I cant eat bucks after about the first week of Dec out here due to the rut, though.

For that reason I rarely ever kill a buck anymore. I will be looking for a big one but rarely shoot before the Jan doe season.
