Haven't had lutefisk in years ....I miss it.
The store lefse isn't what the old gals at the Lutheran Church made.

Lefse is good stuff for sure! Lutefisk not so much... reconstituted cardboard at best.
Lefse would make excellent breakfast burritos when combined with yesterdays "hot dish" or pickled herring, maybe even sausage and eggs.
Gonna surpise my kids one of these upcoming holiday mornings!!!

No one has mentioned korv yet? Maybe we should dig up a recipe for FG Charlie to make up?

My sister in La Crosse usually ships me "care package" of lefse around Thanksgiving.
My late uncle made lutefisk that was as good as the ladies made at the Norwegian Lutheran church. I haven't had any in twenty years or so, kind of miss it. I have a Swedish BIL and they make the lutefisk in a heavy cream sauce.

I miss it, grew up in Northern Minnesota.. Lefse, Lutefisk, and Pickled Herring. About the only thing I can find outside of the Northern Midwest that is anything close is Pickled Herring. Miss the Sunday church Smorgasbord as well.

And Lutefisk. Do not forget the the lutefisk. I love the stuff - but it's gotten to be the same price/# as lobster... Eff that. But my sister makes THE BEST lefse... She's been making it for the last 50+ years and has got it down to a science.. Mmmm, mmmm, MMMMM!

And no one has mentioned potato bologna.

I'm a bad Norwegian, I hate all of it except pickled herring. Ha. I knew there was SOMETHING wrong with you. Try it in wine sauce with whole wheat crackers in mayo and a dab of grated garlic.

Made Lefse last week while I was down visiting my mom. Love that stuff. Kuhmla(?) was Grandmas favorite. I haven't had it in years but I can still feel those cannonballs sitting in my gut after a meal of it. I never did warm up to Lutefisk.

The store lefse isn't what the old gals at the Lutheran Church made. No it's not, or as good as mine, but this is a damn good product. At least it used to be last time I tried it. https://www.freddyslefse.com/
