It is almost upon us, post your favorites here. Here is one that is very versatile and in addition to being delicious, it will make the house smell wonderful:
NDSnowman's Spiced Cranberry sauce
1 1/2 cups water 1 orange, including juice and finely chopped rind (I run a whole orange through the food processor) 2 1/2 cups sugar 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 4 cups fresh or frozen whole cranberries
In a large saucepan, cook together the water, orange (all of it), sugar and cinnamon on medium high for about 5 minutes. Add cranberries, reduce heat slightly and cook until berries stop popping. Cool without stirring.
We use this on the turkey, but people have also added it to desserts and ice cream. This can be made a little ahead of time and warmed in the microwave just before serving, but I prefer to make it just before everyone sits down for dinner.
Also great on duck and goose.
