That's what happens when liberals slowly take over a state with their freebies. It's a never ending parade of stupidity that escalating taxes to pay for votes. Teachers unions and labor unions work hard to keep the status quo. It's sad but that's what were all up against and we'd better be ready in 2020. They'll pull out all the stops and unleash the media on republicans running for congress. That's their path to victory. With both houses they can nullify Trump's second term.

Need Medicaid reform, that will not happen with John Bell.

We need lower tax rates, that will not happen with the rhinos in the legislature.

Not to mention we need road repair, bridges, flood protection, etc.

We spend too much on social programs and still bring 1000s of workers (legally) from foreign countries every year.

We will still be 50th in four years, in eight years, truly a sad situation.

That pretty well sums it up.

Edwards beat David Vitter handily for his first term. He straightened out a horribly screwed up budget through fiscal conservatism. He's an old school southern democrat. Honestly he didn't do too bad. He does need to lead with an eye toward job growth this term.

His opponent Eddie Rispone was not a great candidate at all. His campaign was largely self-funded. He was a political outsider. Trump gave him a fighting chance an made the race much closer than the Edwards/Vitter race. Without Trump it would have been a double digit loss.

Those 40 seats give up were mostly never Trump dirt bags we needed to get rid of. We will win most of them back and more in 2020.

Did you guys see the news yesterday that Trump was taken to Walter Reed Hospital for an unscheduled visit? Check it out, it's true.

Turns out doctors were tasked with removing Nancy Pelosi's boot from Trump's throat.

Edward's didn't win by a large amount. He got NO mandate. Almost as many who voted for him voted against him. Good luck getting your agenda through.

Exactly.

Eddie ran a dirty campaign against fellow Rep Dr. Abraham, a well thought of congressman from North La. Although Abraham graciously endorsed Eddie, the damage was done. Too many Abraham voters stayed home. If they had all showed up, the Republican would have won.

John Bel is conservative compared to the Swamp crazy Dems, in fact is more conservative than a lot of Swamp RINOs. Eddie wasn’t a strong candidate, but given all that got pretty close thanks to DJT.

I work in LA and have seen the adds. Eddie Rispone sounds like an old woman when he talks and his adds were weak. He wasn't a good candidate. That isn't on the President.

He will get his way. Louisiana governors have a lot of power with the line item veto. And a line item veto is very hard to over ride in this state and any legislator voting to over ride then puts himself in position to get his pet project vetoed.

Right.

I just heard that the Repubs came within 2 seats of having an override majority. That's still pretty close.

John Bel will have checks and balances to contend with. He won't get carte blanche like he would if his party was controlling the legislature.
