My old GE electric range oven-microwave needs a new 8 inch element for the cook top.
Parts are supposed to be model specific but I cant find my model number anywhere online.
Are the GE elements more universal than I was told? Are the available elements online going to fit?
Town store did not have GE elements.
The element has the GE female spade terminals.
Thanks.

From what I can tell.....its an 84 model.
The other possiblity is 72....but I dont think its that old.
I am certain it just needs an element.

They might have different plug-ins but look for the wattage.
We have an old stove that the browner element went out and found another that had the same wattage and the ends were the same.
It works if you can find one.

Jim, Jim, Jim. You're not following the program you've just give hundreds of demographers, planners, and marketers a WTF moment. You're not supposed to fix things like that in this day and age. Take it to the landfill, metal pile only please and turf it. Go to Walmart and buy a new one. Sheesh.

Look inside the door opening. There may be a plate there with model or serial number. I take a picture so it's easier to decipher.. Sometimes it's like a sticker and can be hard to see.

I've had good luck looking on www.appliancepartspros.com finding what I needed. I've called before and had them help with finding the exact model I had.

Good luck fixing it Big Jim, most of that appliances get junked. In many parts of the country old appliances are considered must-have yard art.

Cant find mention of it anywhere. If your letter really is a "J" then it is from 1952. More recently, there ought to be two letters there followed by six numbers. Look more closely.

My oven is also a microwave but I am too chicken to try it out.
How do it work with it being all metal inside?

Yup. You can actually have metal in a microwave, it's the real thin stuff with irregular shapes like tin foil that cause problems. Most microwaves have wire racks in them from the factory.

You can set fire to your microwave with paper towel.
Apparently there is metal in paper towel.
