Several years ago the stock butt pad on a Remington 700 SPS became sticky. I contacted Remington Customer Service and they were aware of this problem. At no cost to me Remington sent out a different butt pad, Give Remington a call.
I can try that route but may do no good since I don't have the rifle. I recently bought this stock from a forum member. I'm guessing Remington will want a serial number associated with the stock.
Remington will ask for the serial number. Had one replaced on an early 2000's manufactured R700. But that was a synthetic stock bolt on version and they shipped me a replacement pad. Perhaps the seller will share the SN# so you can get a replacement from Remington? The other option is to cut/grind off the old pad and add new. Doable for those that have the skills and equipment. Any qualified gunsmith should be able to take on the job.
