Per my usual routine of degreasing rings screws etc when mounting a scope I hauled out the acetone, qtips, and paper towels to clean my NEW Leupold QRW2 rings. Much to my dismay the paint or whatever the hell they coat these things with is dissolved by acetone. What the bloody hell!
I wanted matte but couldn’t find any so bought the gloss. Came from Midway so shouldn’t be a fake. Anyone else have these and notice they are painted?

Bad paint at that. Guess I can soak the whole thing in acetone and dump them in some cold blue. The quick detach handle appeared to be blued. But the rest rubbed right off

I'd call them, send back for replacement. They are not aluminum, correct? Sounds like a faulty application of whatever they use.
