a 30-30 no less. i could see if it were some rare chambering or had a famous owner. i have one with a 217xxxx sn in better condition i'd sell for half that and would double my money. someone just got glassy eyed and went for it.

I’m at a loss at this one and one last month that brought near what this one did. Hell, I know where at least two NIB originals are that could be had for less than that...

Deerstalker: I think that Rifle sold (allegedly!) for $1,800.00 MORE than I would have paid for it! I have been invited to participate in so many fake bid scams over the years on "gunbreaker" that I don't give much credence to that site at all. I prefer to do my dealings face to face then next in line would be the classified ads on this site with ads listed by long term members. A higher volume gunshop I frequent, here in Montana, had a very similar condition/vintage pre-64 Winchester Model 94 in 30-30 that sat in their gunrack for nearly a year - priced at $950.00! It is now gone from their shelves but I am certain it did not sell for anywhere's near $2,000.00+! I am shaking my head! Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Multiple bidders going pretty high on that one.
Usually when you see one go for that it's 2 guys that got too much money and too much ego to lose. Winning can become more important than the $
That's why when you start an auction at .01 it can whip people up into a frenzy.
I'm not a Winchester collector or expert but I keep an eye on a lot of Winchester auctions because I love the drama. Kind of like watching a ball game.

I wouldn’t count on getting that price again for ANY 1950’s Model 94. Actually, wouldn’t count on getting half of that amount for any 1950’s Model 94.

I have been a very "active" member of Gunbroker since 2004, mostly as a buyer, and never once have I been invited to participate in fake bid scams. Not that it couldn't happen but I don't see it as a problem at all. Maybe two or three guys born in 1956 wanted a mint example from that year, and exactly how many have been made since 1956?
Too rich for my blood however.

Win 70 , i agree that it is possible for a couple guy's to go for a special year mint, but that was nowhere near mint. look at the right side of the wrist. looks like someone grabbed it with paint thinner or such . as for selling my 94's i sold the bulk about 10 years ago. sold 40 and kept 3. and those are special, to me.

Shill bidders fairly common in a reserve auction before the reserve is met.
There ain't no shill bidding going on in an absolute auction started at .01
Auctions started at .01 are real auctions. Takes all the funny business out.
That why I never bid in a reserve auction until the reserve is met.

Have been going to auctions all my life. Been doing the GB and other internet auctions as well for pushing 15 years. There are so many games and prop up bids in all Kinds of auction. Doesn’t matter if it’s land , cars or firearms Know you values , do your research and set your price before ever taking the stage!
