6 Creedmoor advantages: - Lapua and ADG brass available without forming - maybe 100 fps more velocity, but seems like less than that depending on accuracy nodes - large rifle primer possibly better in cold weather
6x47 advantages: - small rifle primer more tolerant of pressure - less powder for almost the same velocity
243 advantages: - pretty much the same performance as the 6 CM
Does either feed better than the other?
What else am I missing? Everything else identical. 7.5 twist barrel, shooting 90-115 grain bullets, throating set for heavies. Use would be killing things in a lightweight platform.

6 Creed would be the easy route. The way I would go for sure, as I would be running a 2.8" magbox.
Off the shelf brass would be a huge plus for me, even though forming the 6x47 would be a one stroke operation.
My favorite rifle is a .243, and it's probably my favorite cartridge I've had. That being said, when it gets re-barrelled it will most likely turn into a 6 Creed.
Alpha is making 6mm GT, Dasher and XC brass now too. Makes them slightly more appealing as well.
When it comes down to it, in my opinion, not many people could possibly ever see any practical difference in any of them in a lightweight hunting platform.

I am grabbing a bag of popcorn.... I ordered a 7.5 twist 6mm barrel from James Lederer. He says he will make it as close to a #2 0.600 muzzle as he can without making another machining piece for contouring. He said he can make a #3 already. I might be the first person to try and get a #2 from Lederer, I think he is stacked up making target barrels. I haven’t done anything else yet. But... I talked with Defiance today and they said they could get a Rebel Sheep port down to about 24 oz. Pierce says their Ti short action is about 19 oz. Manners says a Manners UC is between 17 and 19 oz. Assuming the barrel is about 2.8 lbs., that’s 45 oz. Trigger 2 oz ADL bottom metal 1 oz. magazine/follower/spring I donno, 3 oz? Total 94 oz. 94/16 is 5.875 lbs. Mounts and scope. Or...take the barrel and put it on a Kimber. I should not be doing this!

There is small primer 6 Creedmoooo brass, the Lapua you mention. I wonder why "depending on accuracy nodes" doesn't apply to the 6x47 as well? If you apply that. varying gun to gun as it does, either one could be hundreds of feet faster than the other. (I wonder when everyone started using the word "nodes')

Also Peterson has headstamped 6x47L brass out for sale now. Not on the website but they are selling it if you call or email. They had several guys T&E it prior to release and they all had nothing but good to say about consistency, durability and all else.
Lots of reviews on the 6x47L Facebook page.
I have a 243 I really like but bought a lightly used 6x47L last week and have supplies enroute.

Strong points all.
I really don’t see much difference between the two! That’s why I asked, maybe something I don’t know (other than the many, many things I don’t know).
I thought aalf, with much 6mm experience, might be able to identify the difference.

Fitting into a 2.8" magazine is the big advantage of both the 6CM and 6.5CM over the 243.
Easy to find off-the-shelf ammo rates high as well.

Why are you jumping thru Hoop's, trying to build something that at the very best will shoot 5% better than a good fast twist .243 ??? Rio7

Aalf's shopping for a new snow blower. Pretty sure he'll chime in when he has that sorted out.
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

Rio7 Perhaps because fast-twist .243s, in factory form remain scarce. Also magazine restrictions in most short actions, possibly better barrel life with the 30 degree shoulder, and the big one..... less case trimming, hence less work and longer case life! None of those would convince me to dump a good .243, but might make me switch when re-barreling, and definitely would affect my choice when buying or building. For the record, I bought a very nice .243 after I got my 6 Creedmoor, and plan to use it to its best advantage with the pile of pingpong balls I have, then I might rebore to 7/08, or not. If we look at this stuff dispassionately rather than defensively, logical decisions are easy to make.
What fresh Hell is this?

Just checked Midway, and among the 60 .243 factory ammo choices listed, not a single one has a bullet over 100 grains. May not be a problem for our OP who presumeably will handload, but anyone who occasionally partakes of factory stuff might feel pinched.
For certain, anyone who relys on factory ammo will probably be better served with a .243 unless they (note the LGBTxyzqwerty pronoun!) need the long bullets.

A 6mm dasher with the new alpha brass in the borden prs action. Would be ideal. If your going up in case size I'd be looking at at a 6.5x47. Dave
Only accurate rifles are interesting.

I've worn out a couple 243 barrels and was considering options for a new rifle when I ran across the new Barrett Fieldcraft in 6CM......The rifle was the easiest sight-in that I can recall......with Hornady 108 Match. A great wolf and coyote combo.
It seems easier to load for than my 243s were.....not nearly as touchy on pressure.
40 grs of RL16 under the 108 ELD Match seems to duplicate factory load.
