At the end of a Christmas story that line is hidden in there...
For me it was my Dad’s model 39A golden 22 Lever Action, and I shot that thing for years and am blessed enough to still have it.
What was yours ?

Rebel Armored Snow Speeder. A Star Wars toy. Still have it. My Dad said he went to every toy store in Lansing Michigan looking for it. I must have been 7.

I didn't get a .22 till I was sixteen (Remington Fieldmaster, now owned by my brother). Got a Crosman Powermaster .177 cal pellet rifle with scope when I was fourteen. Got the lever action Daisy BB gun for Christmas when I was eight. Had loads of fun with it in the way back, behind our backyard, which was left mostly wild. It was our land, but we didn't do anything with it. Behind that was five or six acres of woods that provided lots of fun, too (don't know who owned it). I used to shoot back there all the time with everything from the BB gun on up to the .22. We had a hill to shoot against at the back end of our property on which I built a little range for tin cans and such.

Binolux 7x35 Japanese porro binoculars, Christmas 1970 😎
First birds I looked at with them was a flock of yellow-rumped warblers in a small tree by the railroad tracks.
Over the next 17 years they got used on three Continents, I finally accidentally bent em out of collimation by throwing them in a backpack with some books in Grad School. Of course they wouldn’t hold a candle to the optics we take for granted today.

I’ve been blessed with a lot of good things in my life.....but, at age 7, I got a Benjamin .177. The beginnings of my attraction to shooting rifles. Killed a lot of birds, snakes, turtles with that little rifle. Memtb

How many here got four lumps on the backs of their fingers from wanting to see what would happen if you shot your Daisy BB lever action with the lever open? I did. Four nice lumps, one on each finger. I must have been eight or nine.

When we were 8, my cousin got the Winchester 94 and I got the Crossman Pump. Mine was more accurate than his, and of course, much more powerful 🤠
