Just tried out for the first time my fire dot leupold on a deer hunt. I’m hooked! My current scope is a VX 6 duplex w/fire dot. Now I’m curious what other brands have a std duplex reticle with an illuminated dot option? I like the way the Leupold fire dot intensity can be adjusted. I took a deer at 11:30 am so it was plenty bright outside but I just adjusted the dot. Who else is running an illuminated reticle?

I’m a “set it & forget it” guy but for curiosity can you have an illuminated dot and dial turrets? I am not a fan of hold over reticles. They are what I call a “busy” or “crowded” reticles. I like a plan ‘ol std duplex preferably a heavy duplex but let me disclose...long range to me is 500 yds

I have a VX6 in duplex and german4 with dot. Pretty sure I like the duplex better, but the #4 is also top shelf. I think the dot is the right size and the adjustment is useful. I like that it sleeps when the rifle is stationary and comes on when picked up. Great low light gathering and that cool dot makes for easier shots in dim light.

I have the SWFA HD 5-20 x 50 Illuminated, which has a tiny red dot. It is on my 257 Weatherby which is used for coues wt. Wrote about it here in Aug 2018.

I like everything about it. Great turrets easily zeroed and they line up EXACTLY on the witness marks when tightened. Reticle is useful without being overly busy. Both turrets and reticle are Mil/Mil. First focal plane keeps stadia spacing the same under all magnifications. The tiny illuminated dot in center is a bonus as it won't block view of intended target in dim light.

It is on sale right now for just under $1000: https://www.swfa.com/swfa-ss-hd-5-20x50-tactical-30mm-riflescope.html?___SID=U

I am fond of my Victory 1.5-6 #60. For where I hunt the thing is about perfect. I have a fire dot as well, the #60 is a finer dot.

My Steiner P4Xi is some of the best glass I own in my opinion and I love the red dot and adjustability of it in the reticle
