When new, I found it best to load the rounds in the middle of the mag box for feeding to be 100% reliable. While hunting, I would leave the three round down, and pull out the one in the chamber & put it into my pocket. I noticed by the end of the third day, the top round in the mag box had slid back part way, making the bolt hang up a little. Once I slid it forward, all was good.
So this prompted me to dig around the parts bin to remedy the situation when I got home, and in there I found a long action machined style follower, and a spacer block from a 223 mag box. I had to tweak the spacer a bit, and then attached it to the rear with a pop rivet. After a little cyphering, I determined where to shorten the follower and proceded to get after it with the hacksaw. A little deburring with a file and it fit like a pocket on a shirt.
Last step was to put Humpty Dumpty back together again and give it a test drive.......home run.....

Thanks all.....
The 700 long action mag box is 3.700"....the installed 223 spacer measures .450"....giving me a 3.25" mag box length.
My loaded rounds are right at 3.00", leaving me a quarter inch of leeway.

aalf Quick question. I've installed a spacer in the mag box and I'm still struggling to get my LA 6.5 PRC to feed. Did you install a different follower spring after you shortened the follower or use a different spring? If you used a different spring what type did you use? Watched your video, nice job....slick feeding! rookie

The 1st thing I do to any action, is polish/round off the edges of the feed rails. No more scratched brass, and the rounds make a slicker transition out of the mag box. I generally polish the feed ramp a bit with a Dremel as well. These 2 tricks are the start to better feeding. After that, you have to address what exactly is going wrong. Some setups, you can't dilly dally working the bolt, you just have to go faster for more consistent feeding, as in 30-30 lever actions......
