If you shoot trap a lot the problem is lessened, as trap stocks have less drop than field guns.
This has been a moderate conundrum with the 412/512 guns. Since the rifles with their own mount set the scopes a bit high, the stocks have only moderate drop. They're built as a compromise, and the rifles have just enough drop to allow for getting down enough to use the puny little folding sight in the rib. (BTW, they're fragile sight blades).
At one time I had three receivers and a dozen barrel sets, and I owned and traded many more. I took this set to Africa. It's the Valmet/Lothar-Walther 9,3X74R o/u barrel set and the 512 receiver with DT and a 12ga/9,3X74R set. I shot a fair amount of francolin and guinea fowl with the combo set.
In the true Finnish Valmet 412 I preferred the cheaper 412S to the more deluxe 412; I liked the stock much better.
