I used to shop at Cabela's quite a bit. I have a lot of gear and clothing that has the Cabela's logo on it and lotsa name-brand stuff that doesn't, especially their cold weather clothing. After the merger, the quality and selection of gear at Cabela's dropped off while the price went up. I rarely go there now unless I'm looking for something I can't find at Sportsmans Whorehouse or one of the local stores when I'm out on the road system.

The real issue is Cabelas was mis managed, lost their business, got purchased and is now being downsized.
I feel sorry for the people in Sydney.

Wrong. Bass Pro specialized in cheap chitt Chinese copy cat merchandise and folks bought the cheap crap and left Cabelas for it. They undercut Cabelas with inferior quality stuff and drove Cabelas down.

The masses voted with their wallets. I much preferred Cabela's, now not so much.

Back in the summer made a trip through Cabelas in Gonzales, la.

I’d stop there once a hunting season while heading home from offshore. Couple years,ago it was a great store.
Now, no bargain cave. A good portion of floor space is boats, stuff taking up space. I like the cavelas branded clothes. Not much of that left. Store had a empty feeling.


Told the gal at the checkout, it just isn’t the same. She said we get that a lot now.

Now that this prick has been exposed maybe things will change. This is who the media should be hounding instead of Trump.

You may be right.
But before Cabelas started their slide, I did not know a guy, and I know a lot of sportsmen, that preferred BP over Cabelas. And that is for the reason you stated, BP stuff was low quality junk.

I always got the impression that Cabela’s “spec-ed” much of their hunting clothing. OTOH, BPS just kinda slaps their Redhead name on whatever junk they find, and calls it good.

May or may not be true, but it feels that way. Difference between an “outfitter” and a “retailer”...
