Yet another Kel-Tec found it's way home.

My favorite shop got it's first Kel-Tec PF-9, first one I'd seen or handled, and well...

Yeah, for a BNIB single-stack 9x19, from a reputable company, with 50 rds of FMJ and 50 rds of JHPs (2 boxes of good 25 rds. each), taxes, fees, etc., OUT THE DOOR for $292, how can you not take it home?

Pics and range test to follow.

Initial impressions? LIGHT! MUCH lighter than a P11, but not quite so light as a P3AT (then again, not much is). The trigger is MUCH better than a P11; very similar to a P3AT. It's also a good bit thinner than a P11, very close to a P3AT in thickness/thinness.

The P11 specs out at 20 oz., loaded, and 1" thick.
The P3AT specs out at 11.4 oz., loaded, with a belt clip, and 0.77" thick.

The PF-9 specs, via Kel-Tec, are 15.5 oz., loaded, and 0.88" thick.

Thus far, I'm liking it. And, if the other K-Ts that I've owned are any predictor, I'll like it alot.

Good for you VA. I just got a flier from one of our local shops that they were having their anniversary sale next weekend. The Kel Tec's (9mm and 40S&W) were advertised as on sale for $369 + tax and DROS.

Sounds like you got a sweetheart of a deal.

Congrats VA!! Sounds like ya got a stellar deal on it. Even our LGS has em for $299 NIB but that doesnt include ammo or anything.
I'm very interested to hear how it shoots cause we're lookin at gettin a keltec for my husband.

The P11 for $369? HOLY SCHIT! That's a solid $100 over the average prices I'm seeing elsewhere! That said, the .40s are scarce...

Her1911;

I own, or have owned, at 2 P32 .32ACPs, probably 4 or 5 .380 ACP P3ATs, a P11, and now a PF-9. Add to that the number of others that I've shot owned by buddies, and the number of K-Ts in my hands and fired is probably 20+. I've not had a serious problem or complaint with any of them.

They are not "target competition" accurate, but they are not designed to be. They ARE designed to be there, with you, all of the time. For that, I've never found anything better than the P3AT. If I can (and have) concealed the P3AT while wearing ONLY a pair of shorts or swimtrunks, tell me how you can't always carry one? BTW - I'm 6'1", and about 180, for reference.

I would, will, and do, unequivocally endorse a Kel-Tec for a 24/7 CCW weapon. It's just always there, and they always go bang when you pull the trigger. It won't win any range competitions, but it's always there, and PLENTY accurate enough for what it's designed for.

VA,
Thanks for the information. My husband wants one for easy concealment for CCW. I dont want one because they dont fit my hands, and just dont feel right for me. I always carry, and will be lookin for a different type of compact that fits me better. Who knows, I might like a keltec eventually!! Look forward to the range report!

If you can find a PF-9, pick it up.

To be honest, the P3AT doesn't "fit my hand" either... the little thing is too small. But, it serves a purpose.

If initial impressions are any indication, the PF-9 may replace my P11 and my P3AT... but I'll likely still have both of those as well. The P3AT is just too easy to carry when you "can't" carry.

I just checked Kel-Tec's website.
That PF-9 sounds perfect, I have been looking for something to replace my 32 Tomcat for carrying in a cycling jersey pocket.
I will be very curious to see how your PF-9 does, VA.

Hey VA< I completely missed the point you were tryin to make until just now. blush Yeah, if you can conceal in just swim trunks, then theres NO reason to ever be without a carry gun. I agree 100%. Who knows, someday I might get one!!

Don't worry, honey... it probably won't be your last. But, with your attitude, it'll go over just fine.

I had a .32 cal. Seecamp for about 14 years. Ran across a K-T PF9 that I really liked so the dealer gave me a hundred bucks and the K-T for my Seecamp. K-T is lighter and much more powerful that the Seecamp. More accurate than my old 70 series combat commander, too. Great gun!

The PF-9 is hard to get due to demand and feels much lighter than a Kahr PM9 in my opinion. Great find.
