Does a stock for Savage 340 222 fit on a 30-30?

Yes, but you need the bottom metal and all magazine related parts as well for the 30-30.You probably could file the magazine opening of the .222 out to fit the 30-30 mag, but it isn't worth the effort.

It's ironic, but I was wondering the same thing a couple of weeks ago, so I pulled the stocks off my .222 and 30-30.Checked barrel dimensions with my calipers and they were a match. The magazine well is smaller on the 222 so there is a bigger gap between the trigger and the magazine, but it is covered by the bottom metal which has a smaller hole for the narrower 222 mag. Being an economy gun , I would guess Savage made a "one size fits all" stock.
