One of my favs is a 1953 Mannlicher Schoenauer full stock carbine in 257 Roberts with a 2.5x8 Leupold. Svelt! A bowhunter at heart but a gun guy at soul. I'll take craftsmanship, wood and blue steel over plastic and composite any day.

Maybe not mild though unless loaded down. 30-06 M742 Remington Semi Auto and a Model 600 Remington in 308. The recoil on the 06 is more a push from the gas operated action but muzzle blast is loud and with slower powders looks like a blow torch!!! The 600 recoil is pretty stiff......

At some point will put in a Boyd’s or Brownells laminate stock.
