Lately I've had the desire for a lighter weight mountain rifle. Thinking about a Kimber 84L. Then it occurred to me that I already have a stainless featherweight classic in 30-06. Its currently wearing the factory walnut stock. My idea is to replace the wood with a lightweight synthetic.
I love the McMillan edge but wonder what my rifle would weigh in it. Are there others that I should look at? Will any post 64 long action stock fit my rifle?

If you put that in an edge and replace the BM with PT&G you'll be around 6 1/2 lbs without a scope...to me that would be a great plan.

Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

The wildcats are really nice if you like the pattern (basically fw pattern) and can finish them yourself. Super stiff and well made. The ones I have in the ever expanding project bin weigh in around 18 oz, unfinished.

Those wildcats look promising. $375 Canadian is pretty reasonable too. Do you know if he is able to ship to the states?

Absolutely he does. Rumor is there may be a little more paperwork then when I got mine a couple years back, but I cannot confirm. Call him - he’s a pleasure to work with.

My six digit FWT 30-06 is in a McM Hunters Edge and actually I'm quite satisfied with this stock but... My favorite stock is a Kimber Montana. I did my deer hunting this year with a six digit .308 in the factory tupperware stock and you know it is actually a pretty good stock for what it is though I plan to upgrade that rifle with a better stock but haven't done all my homework yet. Mcm's Hunters Edge with a higher comb is what I think would work best for me.

On the WC, I’d recommend the sand and fill option as well.

If you can find a winlite stock I’ve been happy with them. I’ve even bought a few winlite rifles just to swap out the stocks. My 30-06 in the winlite weighs 6lbs 9oz.
