Cross country self-driving? Does it pull in to Fly J and pump its own diesel? Nope.

The reason for self-driving trucks is the severe shortage of human drivers. So this techno marvel truck makes the trip WITH A SAFETY HUMAN DRIVER. Who could have made the trip himself.

No, not the shortage of drivers, it is the cost of the drivers. Pure and simple, there's billions to be gained.

Somebody has to say it. These could possibly be safer than conventional trucks. Won't be swerving lanes because of gawking at the phone. Won't have the driver dozing off or fumbling with pee bottle.

It inevitable, this is coming, along with every tragic accident and set back as technology improves to the point its normalcy.

What folks in the business have said, they'd think dedicated travel lanes and routes would be a sure way to make it work.

They cant make dedicated lanes now, especially if bridges are in the route
