The bears wander for their preferred canyons to den up first permanent snow of the year up high, and yesterday was it! I'm hoping tomorrow isn't too late. Ima track one down and hopefully not get mauled doing it. Wife and I musta seen ten big bear tracks today, and no little ones or sows with cubs, while cuttin a Christmas tree. I think we're in the right spot, maybe a day late. Gunna carry the little 303 and go canyon hopping in the snow tomorrow. Tomorrow's a bad day to be a bear in Roy country! LOL.

Livin the dream boys, livin the dream!

Sasquatch rides a mountain lion so they don’t leave tracks, every body knows that.

I got a bear tag and a shovel so I'm good either way!

3031 powder and a 150 grain semi round nose of some flavor or another. I never did know what brand the bullet is. I pulled them from some old 308 loads. I have no illusions that I am a bit on the light side for the size bear I'm after. What the Savage lacks in power it makes up for in a withering rate of fire.

At least that what I'm hoping, three in the boiler, one in the chest as he's running at me, then the last one for myself.

There's basically an unlimited amount of ground to hunt, more than my knee will allow!

WOW! Beautiful country. Would like just to have a portion of the land to hunt in. Here in Iowa most of the woodland is along rivers with other areas to wet to hunt having brush trees and grass. A lot of the woodlots have disappeared to grow more corn and beans. Sad IMO! Good luck Roy.

Beautiful country for sure. Livin' the dream for sure. Just don't get "et up" by a bear. I recommend a 300 Savage over the 303, just sayin'.

Be safe and good hunting!

Great pictures of the scenery. Beautiful place to hike around looking for a bear or just solitude. Good luck with your 303 Savage "kit" gun. cool grin

Rick, we really need a like button. Where is Roy ever going to find a bear that can put a 10 shot group of 303's in one hole?

That should do the trick

Seen the biggest bear track ever, but a day old. He was something to behold. Front and back feet were a long way apart! Lost him where they melted out. All yesterdays tracks were snowed in, no today tracks to follow. I kind of suspected it yesterday, dang it, missed it by a day. It's a once a year event, and lasts about two days. Ended up carrying the 358 carbine since it's 16" barrel and a red dot. Sure got my blood pumping.

I got to run the hills all day with my good buddy, so I'm still livin the dream.

Nice pictures Roy! Livin' the Dream for sure! Is that Your Christmas tree in the pictures?

I heard Sasquatch said he saw Roy, but nobody believed him...I figure it didn't happen, without the pictures to prove it.
