With the current debate on the Amnesty bill and illegal aliens I thought it'd be interesting to do a little research on gun control laws in Mexico. As most of you know, they have a very corrupt government made up of a few of the rich & powerful that have been in absolute control for decades. Most of the rest of the people are poor serfs - - and the govt encourages their going over the border to prevent a revolution against them, and to send money back to Mexico. (Payments from family members in the U.S. are a major contribution to their economy as is oil revenue.)
While the Mexican constitution guarantees the rights of every citizen to have firearms, in actuality granting a permit is left up to the corrupt police and is extremely restrictive for average Mexicans. In practical terms, it is very difficult to legally own anything larger than a .22. The 'elites' in the Mexican power structure do not want millions of oppressed people armed. - - - An interesting thing to think about that relate to our own U.S. gun laws and to the attitudes of millions of people here who have had to live under these limitations of freedom in their own corrupt country. (Maybe the sentence "Its not just about hunting !" - does mean something? ) To read more check out http://www.davekopel.org/Espanol/Mexican-Gun-Laws.htm or Google the subject. - - - Regards, -

good post, i've heard that Mexico might not be as democratic as one might hope for, and a lot of folks are encouraged to leave, but then send back some of their largesse they've stolen back to the mother [bleep]. pretty immoral for sure.

our elites probably see some personal advantage from this set of circumstances, so they encourage it for their own gains. they're in effect helping to maintain the immoral system that exists in that foreign country, out of pure self-interest.

i hope sufficentg understanding manifests that American citizens and citizens of foreign countries can see the great unfairness that they are facing, and will choose to vote at the polls for effective leadership in order to solve ths dilemma.

Yes, you make a very good point. Its amazing how much concern there was over the terrible political system in South Africa years back which even resulted in boycotts by many in this country. But, most don't realize that their support of mass illegal immigration from Mexico keeps a very corrupt govt in power down there. If those poor people didnt have the option of going to 'el Norte' there would rise up a movement for a drastic change. - - - Do the 'elites' up here envy what the 'elites' can get away with in Mexico ? A chilling thought. - - - Outlaw certain form of free speech, especially before elections. Attack talk radio using the excuse of the 'fairness' doctrine. Make people more dependent on govt programs for everything from retirement to medical care, etc. Continually raise taxes and regulations. Bring in a massive population of illiterate foreigners paying them lower wages and offering fewer benefits (you'll 'give' them those as a govt benefit and theyll depend on you and vote for you forever) thus destroying the ability of the middle class to make a decent living in this country . . . And eventually, - - outlaw ownership of private firearms using 'homeland security', 'saving the children' or some other excuse as a pretext. - - - - - -

After much thought I've come to the same conclusions: that being the powers to be want a rich elite class and a very poor serf class. The Democraps and the Republicraps want to maintain the Mexican status quo in this country as well as in Mexico. The difference here is that some of us have experienced freedom and we won't give up without a fight. That's why in other post on the forum channels I've said there will be white reservations to keep the whites from revolting. In many cities there are already gated-white communities. You young pups will live to see the white reservations. In side the reservations will be a reasonable peace while outside the reservations will be crime and chaos.
