What’s everyone’s plan for 2020 to be climbing mountains like billy goats and slaying BnC critters?

Me? No carbs, high fat. Lots and lots of rucking and jogging. Need to get some weight training into the mix. Got some Crazy hunts for 2020 planned. Into the unknown and unhunted after beasts.

Same as The past many years.
Treadmill and/or weight machine 5/6 days a week.
Eat three sensible meals daily.
Drink in moderation.
Get 7 hours or more sleep.

Less sugar, less carbs, more protein, stair climber, walking, and some weights. As spring comes, some hiking with weighted packs.

Looking to lose 50 pounds.

Started a modified KETO diet last August. Eggs bacon and the right fruits for breakfast. Some kind of animal protein and veggies for lunch. Protein shake around 4:00 and that’s it for the day! Maybe a cup of coffee in the evening. Started at 225lbs (I’m 6’2” and about to turn 51yo) and am now staying steady around 198-200lbs. I feel great and can play a pick up game of hockey with the guys or walk the pheasant fields all day and not feel terrible and out of breath! All of my size 36 jeans are waaayyyy too big and have had to buy smaller pants!! Was a little worried about the holidays but it really wasn’t that hard to avoid the crappy foods. It’s worked for me and I’m not planning on changing my routine. Pretty easy really!

Elkcountry, you ever track your macros? Curious what your fat/protein ratio is.

Yep that’s about it.

It’s time to stop procrastinating and get myself in shape.

Episode 518 of Gritty Podcast was good for me.

I really really want to hunt my ass off but get tripped up due to lack of tip top physical fitness.

Im in the same boat, gonna give getting back to reasonable shape and weight one more time before I take a dirt nap. Im going NSNGNP, no sugar, no grain no potato, and have freedom to eat everything other than those three areas...….at least that's the plan.

Back on June 2 of this year, I was 51 and had a routine Dr. appt where they weigh you and all that stuff.. 215 lbs and 6'2". I'm pretty sure that is the heaviest I've ever been. The extra lbs had been building for 20 years. I weighed 185 lbs. 20 years ago.

I quit eating fast food, bread, cereals and potatoes for the most part, milk, junk food like chips, severely cut back on sweets, and even though I never drink much soda pop, I gave up that too. Started eating more eggs, veggies, fruits, jerky and summer sausage for snacks. Really didn't do anymore exercise than normal and by September, I was down to 187 lbs. Been staying right there ever since. Just doing the above, the weight started falling off immediately.

I can't tell you how much better I feel after shedding 25 plus lbs. Way more energy, the hills don't seem as steep, joints feel great, hell, even my pants fit way better. I'm telling you the weight thing sneaks up on a guy so slowly that you forget or don't notice that you are sliding down a slope.

Good luck guys.

Portion control, carb awareness and daily walking + workout 3x/wk in the gym. I've lost 60# and kept it off, at age 70 I am reasonably fit, blood sugar is well controlled and blood pressure is the best it has been in years.

Calvin,

Never tracked any of that stuff. Not sure how to! I’ve cut out 98% of my potato, pasta, bread, rice and only cheat with a coke now and then if mixed with Jack or Bacardi! For a sweet carbonated drink I’ve discovered Bang and Reign energy drinks! Zero sugar, no calories, very low carbs and they have replaced my after work coke fix! Switched from a banana with breakfast to strawberries, blue berries and raspberries. Used to eat an apple on my way home from work but have cut them out also!

I’ve made it up as I go and it seems to work for me.

Trying to quit bread, potatoes, pasta.... It's tough. Already cut sweets, which I never was big on... Artificial sweetener In the ice tea. Eggs for breakfast most every morning with lean sausage, salad for lunch whenever possible, smaller portions for dinner and lots of grilled chicken and some beef. Fish couple times a week. Cut out snacks after dinner and during the day. Trying to cut out most processed foods.
Not sure I'm willing to give up a couple mixed drinks in the evenings though. Job is physical but will start the treadmill 30 min. 3-4 nights a week too. About 4 years ago I was 260lbs @ 5'11". Got down to 195 lbs Running 225lbs now and have been for a year and a half. I'd really like to be close to 200lbs-210lbs tops.

I am down 30# since May essentially eliminating sugar and carbs and dropping back on booze (yeah I know...). I want 20 more prior to a hunting trip I have planned for next fall in BC. I am off of one BP med and hope to drop the other when the next 20 are gone. I am feeling much better in every way. The holiday's are always tough and we (wife and I doing this together) are probably up a few pounds but come the new year we will fully recommit. The change in lifestyle has been great.
