I used to watch Michigan Outdoors every Thursday in the 1980s. Big Buck Night was the best show of the year.
The guy in the video is passed on now but he hosted the show for many years. Here is a show about him building his Savage rifle at the Savage Factory. Colburn is in video. Enjoy.
***See what Fred says about rifle stocks at the 6:35 mark.

"...aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one." - Paul to the church in Thessalonica.
Have to agree with saddlering with Mort Neff being the real Michigan Out of Doors. Grew up in the late 50s and 60s watching him every Thursday night at 7pm. His program was sponsored by Leonard Oil Refinery out of Alma.
My wife, myself, and my two young daughters went to Bowhunter's weekend at Anderson Archery in Grand Ledge in the late 70s. Fred Trost was there and the language he used was totally inappropriate for a family event. Never really cared for him or his show after witnessing his behavior at Anderson Archery.
To sit back hoping that someday, someway, someone will make things right is to go on feeding the crocodile, hoping he will eat you last--but eat you he will. Ronald Regan.
