I have a co-worker with a NIB featherweight in 308 that he won in a raffle a few years ago and has offered to sell to me. I am not sure if it is a New Haven, BACO, or Portugal production as I haven't seen it in person yet. He hasn't given me a clear price but has hinted at something around $600. I'm thinking this would be a pretty good price no matter where it is made but I am not all that well versed in model 70 values and how where they were made effects that value.

Is there anything I should avoid here or is it a good price no matter where it was made?

You wouldn’t get hurt by any variation of a NIB Featherweight for 600 bucks.

$600 is pretty good. Best deal you're going to find online (brand new) is $700. If it is Portugal, don't despair, they're *very* well made.

If you don't buy it, if NIB Featherweight someone going to get a deal at $600....if he knew what he had put it on GB for bid and sit back and watch what happens. Clockwork 7mm hit it on head about Portugal.

If its a red pad model, I will relieve you of the burden of this decision. Let me know...

Thanks guys, I thought it seemed like a good deal but I only own a single Winchester and it's an extreme weather so it's kind of apples to oranges, always loved the looks of the featherweights though and if I buy this one out will probably just be something to add to the collection.

This thread does have me wondering though, can't seen to move it at $650.

Yeah $600 ain't bad but the bolt action hunting rifle market is very tough right now, it would probly be hard to get any more than that out of it, I know I was in a LGS back in the Summer and they have a very good looking Mod 70 Featherweight .308 Win in their used rack priced at $595 and saw it still sitting there when I was in there last week....Good luck....Hb

I just sold a mint, gently used BACO 7mm-08 FWT for $630. It was listed here for a while with no traction, then went to gunbroker. It resisted a few times before selling.

Not yet because private party sales require a NICS check in the state of NY but it will be as soon as we can schedule a time for us both to meet at an FFL.

Yeah, the market is soft as fuzz. I recently saw a like new condition new haven 30-06 featherweight for $500.00. I damn near bought it, because it was nice, but then i stopped to think about how many 30-06 rifles ive bought in the last few months. Prices are low guys. Its a buyers market right now. At $600, the ops rifle in question is just a tad over priced. IMHO..

Yeah, it's pretty awful. If I could talk my wife into it I'd be gone. Maybe some day.

Couple months ago I picked up a 1981? 7mm featherweight red pad XTR (lightly used if at all, with some minor wood blemishes from handling- I doubt it has ever been hunting - owner thought maybe he had put 20-30 rounds through it- partial boxes of ammo that came with it seems to support this) , with a Leupold VXIII 2.5-8, along some ammo, bullets, and dies, for 750.

600 seems like a good NIB price to me! And it has better figured wood than mine.

Nice!

Just curious, do you know what the grip cap on yours is made of? Pretty sure the one in my pics is plastic and that kind of bothers me. I found a steel cap available online that I will likely swap it with eventually if it fits properly.

Las,

7mm 08 or 7mm x57? I know they made a 7x57 and probably the- 08 as well.
