I currently have a 300 win mag in Rem 770 I bout last year. I put q brake, new muzzle brake on it and stopped it with nikon 4x12x42 scope in burris signature zee rights. Od I can buy right out now a TC Compass .both in 300 win mag. Which would u go for as far as food utilitarian rifle. Thanks

TC compass for sure. The 770 is an abomination, almost as bad as your grammar.

Ok guys I just read my post and replies m it is hilarious. Looks like I had something on my Monday night after i took my sleep meds and g ol t online. Sorry about that. Ok now to post I bought a 770 off a friend 1 year ago. I put muzzle brake on it with recoil pad and floated barrel. I also mounted a nikon scope in burris rings. It shoots a solid 1.25 inch group. I was thinking of buying a Boyd's stock and putting the 770 in it. However, there is alot negative on 770 so afraid I be throwing away good money for something not likely to last and that I could never recoup if I wanted to. My other option instead of putting 770 in a Boyd's stock is I can buy a new TC Compass. Which would you do?

Why are your options limited to the re-stock or to the TC? There is a lot more going on in the budget rifle world than those two.

Either use the 770 as is or start over with something else. They are cheap disposable rifles, but most of them shoot well enough. It isn't worth throwing money at it. Use it till it breaks then trash it. It'll cost more to repair than it's worth.
Nikon, nor anyone else makes a 4X12X42. Several companies make 4-12X42's.
The TC is a slightly better rifle. Any reason you're wanting to stay with 300 WM? All of the budget guns will be on the light side and 300 WM recoil is more than I'd want in a rifle that light. Something in the 308 class of cartridges would probably serve you better. The 300 WM doesn't offer you any advantages inside of about 500 yards.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

Basically because I've had a Savage Axis and Ruger American and didnt care for either. I have a TC Venture and really like it and my son has a Compass and it shoots great. The compass I can get in a price range similiar to the Boyd's stock. I was apprehensive to throw money into the Rem 770 because of its track record. If I did and then it broke down and I couldnt fix it then I would have wasted money. I trying to reason out the best path to take with the 2 options I have. By the way I bought the 770 a year ago off a buddy that didnt like the recoil and was needing some cash. I have 50 dollars and a few items I traded for it. Thanks

More lipstick on the pig is all you're going to accomplish there. And with the brake and pad, I'm afraid you've already out some money – unless your buddy paid you to take it off his/her hands.

Thanks Well, at least you're not in very deep with the 770. Don't get in any deeper. Either shoot the 770 as is, or get something better. That won't be hard.

If I were in that price range I’d probably try to get into a Savage 110 or Tikka myself. Not knocking the rifles you’ve got cause they work well for you but both of the other two can be had for decent money and offer a lot of options as far as upgrades but are pretty serviceable as they sit.
I like a 300 Win myself. If you like it, stick with it. It’s more than what’s needed mostly but it doesn’t mean that’s a bad thing. If it gives you confidence then run it. It’s a truly do it all cartridge.

Use the 770 and go hunting.
Save your money for a higher quality setup.

Save your money for a higher quality setup. This is the most sage advice at this point. Put $10/paycheck in a can and after a bit you'll have enough for a decent quality firearm. Budget guns are just that and fail to be more. You already have other rifles that seem to work so why add more cheap and less desirable items to that?

I'd save for a 700 ADL in the cartridge you want.

Look for a used, stainless Tikka T3, or a Howa 1500. Both are excellent rifles with reputations as shooters, right out of the box.
