Special isn't it. My son shot a doe with my 6mm this year after admiring that rifle for a decade. I worked with him a day or two earlier replacing the trigerr with a Trigger Tech from Santa. Took a bit of searching to locate the doe but that just made things even more memorable as he was impressed with the tracking.

It’s a Parker Hale. Model 2100 midland. In 270 Winchester. I think this was the cheapest Parker Hale made. I know finding bases for it is a B*#=%!! I’ve heard that this is a Mauser based action and also that it was based off the Springfield action. I’ve got the combination of weaver bases but would really like a one piece base.

Yep, I'd say you are correct. The rifle is a tool, the memories are the gift, keep on keeping on.

My dad doesn't hunt, loves to fish, but my uncle's and grandfather loved to be out in the field. My uncle bought each of his nephew's a new Model 70 rifle when they were born, mine is a 65 30'06 that I didn't get until I was a teenager. I killed a lot of game with that old rifle, yet now every time I pick it up, I am transported back to the day he asked me to go hunting with him and he gave it to me. He passed away a few years ago and now I have his old damascus Bowie knife that he cleaned every deer he ever shot and quite a few of mine and my grandfather's. There will be a hunt in the future where these two will be with me and I actually shoot something, hopefully I can get thru it with out getting misty eyed and actually pay attention, seems like I am distracted thinking about all the memories made with the two of them growing up, trapping, fishing, hunting and just growing up.
