What's the general consensus on Zeiss Terra3 scopes? I'd never heard of them, saw one today in 3-9x42 on a Tikka.

Conquest or Meopta Meopro would be my choice. The one Terra I looked though had terrible eye relief.

Steer clear. They discontinued them for a reason. My friend's proven Tikka 25-06 became an instant scatter gun when put a Terra on it. It wouldn't consistently stay on a pie plate at 100 yards. This was right after they had discontinued them, but they were still in stock at retailers. When he contacted Zeiss, they informed him the line had been discontinued, and certainly implied (without saying it directly) that similar issues were a contributor to the decision to discontinue.

The couple I had were made in Japan. I never had any issues with mine. My son and brother have them now. And are killing deer with them.

The 2-7 I have has been very good, but it’s different than what I hear on 3-9s.

The big problem with the 3-9x was indeed the eye relief. Unlike the original 3-9x Conquest it was supposedly designed to replace, which had an ER close to 4" at 3x and shrank less than 1/2" when turned up to 9x, the Terra's was less than 3" on 9x.
