I know getting someone else to do all the work on a rifle is kinda like cheating but ya'll forgive me if I "test the waters", so to speak, with my first one. Hill Country Rifles did this one up for me, .338 Win mag on a Win 70 classic with a (sorry Rick) McMillan stock and teflon finish, Leupold 3.5X10. This one is to go to Africa in 2004 on a plains game hunt with JJ and co.

Please tell me you're not taking just ONE rifle to Africa!? You need another custom job ASAP (a 375 or 416) to take as well.

BTW, nice rifle.

For as much as I detest plastic guns, that's actualy VERY nice looking,in a good cartridge.

I wish you good luck with JJ.Elmer's old cartridge ought to lay low any of the soft skins with aplumb,as long as you hit them right.

Brian.

Very nice looking rig. Interested in knowing how you like it and Hill Country. They are not far from me. What did the job set you back?

I do not normally comment on custom rifles as so many here have so much more experience but I have to say, that is one NICE looking shooting iron, in a great caliber. Let us know how she shoots when you get a chance to try it out. TM

Sweet rifle you got there. Can't wait to hear how it shoots. You're living my dream right now with a new custom 338 and an upcoming hunt with JJ. That rug is pretty nice also.

What style McMillan stock is that? Is it a Super Grade or something else?

Thank you for the great pics. What is the skin on the chair, a fallow or axis deer? I need one of those (not the chair).

Thanks all,

Mtn Hunter and Jim.. The stock is a G&H from McMillan, grey w/black webbing. I don't reload, (yet), so am limited to factory loads.

Talus.. the skin is the back skin from my wifes Axis buck, taken in Texas last year.

Yes, LSU, my wife and I are living out OUR dreams right now. We are certainly blessed to be able to do so.

I'll try to post up results of shooting, can't wait! Just needs to quit raining for a day or two.LKH
