I picked this up at a LGS on my hunting trip to PA. It was a bit of sentimental thing since the first rifle I carried in the woods was a 25-20 (Winchester 53). Both sights are missing, a weaver J4 and N2 mount added, some stock issues, replacement clip but it looks period correct. Serial number is 35753 which I think is fairly early in the production run. Maybe some woodchuck action this summer?

No checkering. I believe its a model 45 if that sounds right. It has a peep on it.

Not an easy rifle to find in that caliber.

If it was checkered I'd really be jealous. smile

Keystone 250,

How do you know that magazine is not factory? I've always thought (and spent money accordingly) that only factory mags have that "knurling/checkering".

Please enlighten me.

Thank you,

Doug

Good catch. I love those rifles with long skinny scopes. I have one in 22 Hornet.

I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

Doug- It most likely is a factory clip, just not original to the gun. The guy I bought it from was complaining that he picked up the gun from an estate without the clip thinking he could pick one up cheap. He ended up paying $100 for the clip.

That combo will make a great woodchuck gun! Those old Weaver J series are nice for what they are if clear.

Yes they do make good ground hog guns. This one has only had cast bullets put through it in the four years I have owned it. Lyman #257283 is the one it prefers.
