Need to take up a little headspace on Remington action. Intend to do so by changing out recoil lugs as I have quite a few of varying thickness . Barrel index does not matter as barrel is not fluted or caliber stamped yet.. I see no reason this is wont work. Or am I overlooking something

As long as the bolt nose and front of the lugs have clearance, I do the same.
