I picked up a pretty c.1901 Winchester 1894 half-octagon rifle as a shooter. It's in nice shape, but it has been drilled and tapped for a receiver sight, which I would like to put back on. The holes are non-standard for Model 94 Lyman and Williams receiver sights, as the holes are spaced .5 inch apart rather than the standard .25 on later model factory drilled models. The front sight was replaced by a Redfield blade, and the forward positioning of the holes leads me to believe it was drilled for an early Redfield receiver sight with the mounting screws on a post running forward of the sight. Can anyone help me identify what this rifle may have been drilled for so I won't have to put any more holes in the receiver? Looks like the same pattern on both post 64 94's I have. Look at Lyman's. MB

Both Lyman 56A and 66A are too narrow between the holes. I've tried. Williams has the same bolt pattern as Lyman.
