It was a very sad Christmas for my family this year. Brutus was always the first one up on Christmas morning sticking his cold nose in my face to go outside and then patiently wait in the kitchen for his food while I made the morning coffee.

Mornings have been pretty sad and lonely as he was always up with me long before anyone else would wake.

Brutus is home now with us forever.

Very sad.

I'm truly sorry to hear that Brutus' days with you are done.
The part about him being your kid's confidante is especially touching as that's what my son and daughter did with Buster the Weimaraner. He was always gentle and snuggly with the both of them. Best dog ever.
He loved me completely.
Dogs enrich our lives, but it comes with a cost. Their half life is too short.

Those were the worst times. Many a morning found me sipping coffee, scanning the campfire and scratching ol' Buster's ears.

Sorry for your loss Fats, I know you loved your bud. The good news is you had him for his life, thats all he has to give, he must have loved you too.
