The long and short of it is, I bought the rifle without rings. This particular model has the quarter rib setup which allows for a scout scope setup. I haven't made up my mind how I want to mount the glass, but I need to know if I need to order two different height rings, or two of the same height. It is hard to tell just by looking. Suggestions are appreciated.

I think Ruger will know this AND ship them to you at no charge.

The Ruger M77 MKII Frontier was shipped with two model "3B" 1" low rings. Two, 3B same height rings.

Joel,

I was on Optics Planet earlier today, and they had Ruger Rings available in singles...which is how Ruger sells them...

but what I was looking at, is they also carry 30 mm rings at the same cost as the 1 inch rings..

at what the rings cost for commercial and wholesale accounts from Ruger...

I'm looking at purchasing some of the 30 mm rings for a couple of my varmint rifles..as I would like to upgrade scopes

and maybe for a 243 and 260 to also upgrade scopes...

just passing it on, in case the info might be of interest...

Funny you mention that, John. I ordered the 30mm models!

If you are using the front rib, scout scope configuration you will use the same height rings

If you are using it with the rear mounts on the action, like a conventional m77 you will need the 2 different size rings. Taller rear, shorter front.
I have a frontier ,set up with a regular scope utilizing the action mounts. Using a 3B and 4B rings with a 2-7x33 leupold, I had to shim the front ring under the tube with a coke can to get it to clear the front rib. It can barely clear a dollar bill, but it works.. and has killed a lot of deer.

The scope was supposed to be temporary until I got a scout scope, but I never got around to getting one.
