I have seen a couple of recent videos which portray California as a sesspool. One stressed that for those who live elsewhere and think that Californians are exagerating, they are not. Apparently CA has more homeless people than the rest of the country combined. People are schitting on the sidewalks and it's so pervasive that you have to watch where you walk. Gas costs $4.50/gallon. Gun laws are getting more and more restrictive. You now have to use non-lead bullets to hunt anywhere in the state. Power outages are common and the utility company is bankrupt. Real estate prices are ridiculously high.

I've heard that droves of middle class working people are migrating out of CA to other more healthy places.

So here's my question to you CA guys. Is it really true? Is it limited to the big cities? Are the rural areas still OK?

s much as guys on here incessantly bitch about California, there are quite a few worse states in this Country that an Outdoorsman could choose to live.
I'd leave, but not for just anywhere.

Great pics sal!

In all honesty all the problems you describe are limited to portions and less than ten cities and towns in CA. I have yet to even see a pile of feces, but I know there are areas in some cities that experience these things.
There are portions of Seattle that experience the same, but I doubt the whole state of WA is covered in scccchit.

This is true.

I get to work in ground zero every day so I am a bit negative.

This one does. But I am not into malls, tech gadgets, Audis and impressing shallow but successful neighbors. I do not fit in around the city.

Won't argue. I'm divorced as of the 8th. All due to the fact that ex would not countenance a move out of state until she wanted to retire. Figure about the time I'm unable to do a damned thing outdoors. I'm here for another 7+ years, until the youngest graduates HS. Then I'm gone. I won't be a spring chicken, but the heck if I'll die here. In his way, Salmonella is both inspirational, and a cautionary tale.

But the reason we want out isn't because of the physical state of the state. It's because of California's political state. And it's coming to every state where the urban population significantly outnumbers the rural population. But don't believe us, though it's not like Californians haven't been saying this, on this forum for just about 20 years. Believe Colorado. Believe Virginia. Heck, within a decade - believe Texas...

Well said and thank you.
I've been fortunate...I dont make a lot of money and through friends and family and mostly a burning desire, have had a pretty enviable life.
I loathe the state's politics and overwhelmingly liberal culture.
I live in a rural little valley that's a half hour from anything...this keeps me sort of sane.
I am so heavily invested financially where im at that leaving everything because of the political climate is just a stupid option at this point in my life.
So when I see everyone poking on, I just try to remind them that a life here can be palatable if you make it that way.
If I were stuck in a subdivision in some big population center, I'd certainly have a different point of view...but I'm not.
I'll just try to be the exception to the rule for now.

What I can’t figure out is why so many non-Californians care why we are here, worry about your own states, it’s coming your way just like it did us.

Why do you guys stay?
Don’t come here.

It's a matter of principle, you stay and feed the beast via your tax dollars. Then the beast grows and ends up at our doorstep......

Because a lot of Americans understand the judicial process and understand that the stupidity that you and your ilk allow causes problems like the 9th District and we all realize that every case they purposely fugk up has to be corrected by the SCOTUS and this is a timely process.

On top of that, you often act like Texans.

Does this answer your question?

Why do people in Fairbanks Alaska stay. Twice the national average crime rate, twice that of where I live, why are people in Fairbanks feeding the criminals?
