Howdy Everyone!

Goofing with my guide gun, and am looking to get a synthetic/laminated replacement stock. So far, I've only found the WWG Kevlar, and am curious if there are any cheaper models around.

Thanks and look forward to many hours on this site.

I painted mine with truck bedliner from an aerosol can. Weather proof and a very very tuff finish.

Cool! Especially the snow in the picture. grin What is underneath the bed liner?

Ram Line offers a synthetic stock for the 336, I think they are interchangeable...

I don't think the Ram Line will fit the 1895 - had one on a 336, and it had a few differences from my 1895.

That's a good paint job, and I like the black/stainless combo on a lever (well, mostly wink ). Kind of like the new XLR configuration with 3/4 mag in .30-30 but just can't like that black/pepper laminated stock. Painting the stock black would be a viable option, however.

Thanks for posting that.

Its more than paint. Its truck bedliner wich when fully cured is impervious to fuels or any removers. You have to grind it off.

Welcome to the Campfire. I have learned that this web-site has some very knowledgable people in many topics, from Savage 99's, to any other firearm related topic you can name.

I like to inject something when I have some good info......

I purchased a Blue/Walnut .45-70 GOVT Guide Gun, (ported) when they first came out. Of course, I traded it for the first SS/Walnut I saw. Then I started looking for a synthetic/laminate stock to "weatherize" my new set-up.

I scoured the available stock manufacturers and I kept finding listings for the Marlin 336, but nothing for the 1895 series.

Finally I tried Braukman's.............far to rich for my blood.

So I called a synthetic stock maker, the name escapes me at the moment, who offerred a stock for the 336 series and asked, "what gives?" I talked to the company owner directly, and he told me, and I quote, " the reason we don't make replacement stocks for the 1895 Marlins is that Marlin uses about three different sizes of tangs, and hand fit the walnut or now laminate stocks."

That sure cleared up my question as to why no one offers a drop-in replacement stock for a Guide Gun.

I fixed my quandary by trading that G.G. for a new SS/Grey Laminate!!!!!!!!!!

I love it. I think they were a limited run of 500 or 1000, made for one particular distributor. Good Luck,

"LeverBoy",

Damn nice Rifle!!!!!!!

Freedumb1 thanks for the tidbit on Marlin handfitting each stock to the tang. That definitley makes sense as to why there aren't any synthetic stocks readily available from any of the major players in the synthetic stock business.

Leverboy ... did you do any prep work to the wood prior to the application of the bed coating?

I would think he sanded it a bit to rough it up, at least that's what I'm going to do to mine, though it's pretty roughed up already on the parkerized version.

I've got one in stainless that I'm going to bedliner, the parkerized one I may leave with the wood.

Prolly needs refinished as I've bout worn all of it off. but it's memories that put those scratches there, good memories.

Leverboy, love the look.... my problem is the the stock is so darned short...I'm talking a full 3/4" short for me. I have a slip on limbsaver on mine at the moment, which make the LOP about right for me... but it's not an elegant solution....
