I really like the looks of that K3 and will be on the lookout for one, I think a vintage scope will fit it best. I had one some time ago, but sold it because I didn't like the post reticule, I need to find one with a crosshair.

Matt:
I have a K2.5 with "dot" reticule and also a Lyman "All American" 2.5 with the "dot" reticule if you're interested. Both work fine as far as I know...be glad to help a fella out if you can live with either of these.

I purely love those. But how'd that jammamatic sneak in with the quality folk?
(What is that thing, anyway? Every time I think I know something about Savages, somebody shows me one I never saw before!).

...it's a Springfield 87M. It must have snuck into the photo when I had my back turned. Savage produced the 87M and a Sears Ranger version after WWII for commercial sale. I think Savage designed it as a training rifle but the war ended before it was produced. Not many made.

Thanks, Rick. Seems to me a lot of the .22 mfrs. tried to make semiauto trainers for the newly "semiauto military". I seen to remember similar guns by Mossberg and H&R. I guess none of them had much appeal to the govt. once the war was over.

Elwood That's a nice offer, Elwood, but we got it shootin' now. I found an old Leupold 4x with dot I had laying around, picked up some 1" tip-off rings, and got it mounted. Took it out to the range today and my son helped me get it dialed in. Shot Winchester bulk HP's real well. My son really enjoyed it. We would have shot all day if it weren't 101 degrees!

Wow, that is a nice assortment of rifles, Rick. The more I see of these, the more I would like to find one of the centerfire 23's. A 25-20 would be nice.

msj348 - Congratulations, nice 22 and your son looks very much the happy camper or, er, make that the happy shooter.

Good deal Matt....that Lupe is a better scope than either of the ones I offered. Enjoy.

I have a 23AA Sporter with one original magazine and two extra, one is a 10 round. Can someone take a look down the barrel of their 23AA and let me know if the rifling is fairly shallow. I bought this one for my shooter buddy, and after cleaning all the crap out, the rifling looks pretty shallow. Thanks in advance for any help.
