Will be looking to run 140gr RDF's through the 156gr EOL's 2900 to 3000 fps, with 147gr ELD's and 150gr SMK's in the running for best accuracy too, absolute max hog or coyote shot here at the farm will be just North of 700 yards, what glass do you men like on these smaller mid range rifles?
Was thinking 4-14x50 NF SHV, suggestions?
Thanks in advance, gunner

The 4-14X50 NF SHV weight = 30.0 oz/850 g. Great scope but way too much weight for me. I do think your magnification range is good for your distance parameters.
My Sweede has a Leupold VX3. My reloading notes show 247 rounds through the rifle with this scope. Targets and 3 whitetails. Took the deer with 120 Nosler Balistic Tips. Love the current set up.
Planning to try some 100grain Barnes TTSX. Same scope.

Thanks Rug, weight isn't a factor with this build, it's going to have a 28 inch 7.5 twist #15 Kreiger barrel, .820" at the muzzle, it's going to be a back porch pig/coyote slayer off Wifes pic-nic table ; ] will be twisting turrets.

And most are shot between 5 and 600, there's a couple gaps in the field up to the tree line that run to 700.

Thanks in advance, gunner Never mind the glass for a second....I want to know how you plan to hit 3K FPS with 147-156gr bullets out of a 6.5x55. You're talking 6.5PRC / .264WM case capacity at minimum to reach those speeds.

Big charges of slow burning powder and as MM said, a real 28 inches of barrel, threads included, 28.5 inch, we shall see.

Yeah, got that load from you and some of your left over rounds when you traded your .257R for a 280AI.. And, as you said, it's a little buzz saw. Deer and hogs don't like it. It's a killer. Whacks'em a lot harder than its weight class. From the COAL, you can guess mine is in a long action. A 3" action would be perfect. DF

I’ve never loaded it myself, but bought a slightly used 22CM barrel with 700 loaded rounds back in the spring. It’s running the 88ELDMs at 3480 in necked down Hornady brass. I’m down to about 50-60 rounds of it and wasn’t sure which way I’ll go when it comes times to reload for it. How’s temp sensitivity seem to be?

Not a lot. It’s the velocity champ in the Roberts. Not too bad regarding accuracy in that round.
It’s not the most temp stable, but I don’t hunt real cold areas.
I use more Varget and RL-26 in other rounds. H-380 in my 338-06.

LOL, good stuff here Josh, I missed this post when we were cutting up awhile ago, well, I'm done, flexed a little plastic and have a LRTS 3-12x44 flat dark earth on the way, I thought 599 bucks shipped was a hell of a deal, Camerlands online ordering is so easy a caveman can do it, now I have to find some FDE picatinny rings.
