Slaves get what they need. Free men get what they want.

Rehabilitation is way overrated.

Orwell wasn't wrong.

This really reminds me of a past event....

I used to be a roofer. One time I had a repair on a farm worker's roof out in the country. I got all my stuff up there but then noticed a pungent odor from below. It was a dead skunk in the yard. It had a combination of skunk and carrion smell. Luckily, the wind was mostly in my favor. After a bit, I looked down the ladder and there was a doberman at the bottom smiling up at me. "Come down and play!" Yeah, right. After a while the dog decided I wasn't going to fall so it wandered over and started chewing on the skunk.

Shortly, the farm worker (from south of the border) came home for lunch. He went inside and took the dog with him. That was good of him as I had to come down sometime. As I was finishing up, I noticed that the skunk was gone, too. There's only 1 place it could have gone - inside with the dog.

Ha ha, you know what gives it away as a joke?
The line about a Comcast repair guy showing up to fix something.
