Sent a scope in 3 weeks ago and haven't received an email or other confirmation that they received it. Is this normal? Or do they normally just repair and ship back with no communication?

I sent in a scope in early November and didn't get notification until around 3 weeks. They said it takes approx. 18 working days to get it back. That was pretty much the way it went. I think this must be the busy time for them.

Have to wonder if their custom shop reorg has affected service too. I have several I need to ship.

Their customer service is not nearly as good as it used to be.

Sent one in recently, took about 5 weeks to get it back. I did receive any communication (tracking #) until they shipped it back.

Sent in a VXIII 2.5-8 that gave up the ghost in mid December, and just received an email saying "We estimate your product to be completed in approximately 7 weeks from when your product arrived."

Looks like they're running just shy of 2 months backlog at the moment.

I sent in a banged up scope around the end of the first week of December and it was returned to me (fixed) a few days ago. No communication other than when I asked, and I got the "it usually takes about a month" line, which was pretty much spot on. But I had no idea what the prognosis was between the time I sent it in and the time I got it back (glad they didn't replace the scope, as the one I sent in worked perfectly).

I live within driving distance. Dropped one off, filled out the form, and it came back good as new a couple weeks later. I think I got a tracking notice as soon as it shipped. This was probably 6 weeks or so ago

Appreciate the replies. Hopefully they don't try to replace. It's got sentimental value. Only issue was power adjustment ring was tight as hell. Could barely turn it. Uncle had it on a .375 H&H and rear ring was jammed against the power ring. Assuming this had something to do with it.

I had the same issue with a VX-II a couple of years ago after the scope was on a hard kicking .35 Whelen. Leupold fixed it promptly and returned. Screw in the erector assembly shook loose. Similarly problem with a Kahles 2.5-10x a year later. Neither scope lost zero, just hard to manipulate the power ring. Happy Trails

I sent in Vari-x II 3-9 a couple weeks ago due to floating zero. Just received an email this morning estimating 7 weeks for the repair. Either their service is slipping or they are awfully busy fixing non-existing erector issues with their scopes.

If that were Swaro you'd be lucky to get it back that fast. My buddy sent in his Zeiss spotter due to a broken focus wheel and it took them 7 months, not weeks.

I think we're lucky that Leupolds are still USA made. I own >30 Leupolds - some old, some new. Rarely do they have to be returned but 6-8 weeks seems to be the norm. Probably the industry norm, too.

I have sent back more Leupolds than I can count and it appears that ever since they got into the CDS game the repair times are significantly backlogged. Has to a be a direct effect of many a dialing scopes ( with no erector issues) needing fixed! I remember when they only had your set it and forget it scope for a week and it was on its way back. It took 6 weeks to get a generic MOA dial the last time I ordered one.....seriously?
